It seems like common sense that breastfeeding is the absolute best thing a mother can do for her baby. In the animal world, a newborn animal cannot survive without its mother’s milk, and often will not survive on formula.

However, this doesn’t stop infant formula/baby food companies from trying to pay for research that says formula is just as good, or that breastfeeding is not as good as we thought. Really?

A new study in the British Medical Journal states that breastfeeding exclusively for 6 months may put the baby at higher risk of developing allergies, and possibly celiac disease, compared to breastfeeding exclusively for 4 months and beginning other foods (baby food of course) at for 4 months instead of 6 months.

Essentially, this is all you need to know. This is taken verbatim from the study:

” [the authors] have performed consultancy work and/or received research funding from companies manufacturing infant formulas and baby foods within the past 3 years”

What better way to increase your business than by getting moms to start baby food earlier?

What a joke.
